The company's gel doming is a new option for graphic overlays or membrane switches. It can be applied to a product's keys or LCD, creating a 3D effect on a flat image. An advantage of the gel doming is that it reportedly makes an LCD resistant to marks and scratches. When a scratch occurs, the surface of the LCD will retain its initial form after a few seconds. The transparent gel doming is also said to make all windows (LCDs) clear and legible. The supplier also says the gel doming technique will also give a new aesthetic appearance to a graphic overlay.
