  • The highest salaries go to engineers
  • Here are the schools that produce the highest paid engineers

Payscale is out with new data on which engineering graduates are getting top salaries. Payscale notes that engineering schools usually win the top marks in the company’s College Salary Report. Engineering graduates leave school with a specific, applicable set of skills that are in demand. And given the shortage of engineers in industrial North America, employers are willing to pay top dollar even for new graduates. While starting salaries are impressive, even more important, mid-level salaries are nearly double starting salaries.

In ranking schools by the salaries of its graduates, Payscale ranks by the mid-career number, since engineers will spend most of their career earning these higher salaries.

Some of the most famous engineering schools in the US are on the list, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the United States Naval Academy, Columbia University, and Stanford.
